LOG LINE:

Two estranged siblings reunite to investigate the local legend of the black cat, a puma rumoured to be responsible for the deaths of livestock and humans on Ashwood forest. Consumed by their hunt for the truth, they tread a dangerous line between facing their own psychological baggage, and becoming victims of the legend themselves.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:

Two estranged siblings reunite to investigate the local legend of the black cat, a puma rumored to be responsible for the deaths of livestock and humans on Ashwood forest. Consumed by their hunt for the truth, they tread a dangerous line between facing their own psychological baggage, and becoming victims of the legend themselves.

CONCEPT:

A puma roaming the countryside is a modern legend in the UK, both in the north and south. Whilst it may seem far-fetched, there are no shortage of sightings. Delivered with a traditional cinematic feel, but with a touch of docu-style realism containing echoes of Wolf Creek and The Ritual. The film is structured much like an investigative thriller, allowing time to build atmosphere and suspense, before an intense and nail-biting second half.

This is a story that is well known in the UK, but has never really been told on screen. The cats and myth are high concept, while Blake and Dex's personal struggle with loss and guilt provides a deep and an emotional core for the story. Internationally we believe this will do well as a cultural export being similar in tone to The Ritual or even a more serious Shaun of the Dead, but with its own strong concept and emotional journey that will appeal to most people regardless of language or culture.
